Who we are

Origami Energy was founded in 2013 with a vision to make energy cheaper, greener and more secure. As the world strives to achieve increasingly stringent sustainable energy targets, we believe an intelligent, coordinated network of diverse assets delivers the most cost-effective, secure and flexible solution. Energy flexibility (ability of an energy asset to turn up/down or on/off) is becoming increasingly valuable to help balance electricity systems around the world, as increasing amounts of inflexible and intermittent renewable generation is added to the energy mix.

We have developed intelligent, versatile and secure technology to optimally generate value from this flexibility, in real-time. This technology enables flexibility providers to generate better financial returns from their assets and flexibility users to buy, sell and trade better.

We provide technology through strategic partnership agreements with energy suppliers and traders. We also provide fully funded, turnkey energy storage solutions designed to reduce energy bills, generate new income streams and enhance energy security. Our technology is architected to deliver global solutions and is already tested and commercially proven in the highly deregulated UK energy market.

This role is an opportunity to join Origami’s Portfolio Management (PM) team, who work as part of the Value Delivery Directorate. PM is focused on creating revenues and profit for Origami by assessing the various market opportunities for generating revenue, evaluating the revenue potential from various asset types and sites, and ensuring new partnerships are commercially structured to meet our KPIs including profitability and risk. The team is also responsible for ongoing access and revenue generation from the flexibility markets (for example placing bids with National Grid to provide ancillary services – such as Frequency Response) to ensure our asset portfolios are optimally utilised.

The Portfolio Analyst role is a critical part in delivering high-quality revenue and profit by helping to inform the business on opportunities for energy flexibility. There is a requirement to develop and maintain the tools and dataflows that underpin the analysis, and ensure the economic and commercial feasibility of new partnerships. This work is critical to allow the business to scale efficiently.

The role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to gain experience in: flexibility markets, commercial structuring and portfolio performance reporting.

Working closely with the Head of Portfolio Management, the key deliverables and responsibilities of the Portfolio Analyst include;

  • Utilise existing and develop new portfolio and asset valuation tools to value different partner portfolios and assess how different risks will impact on their commercial viability. This work is key to supporting the deal approval process.
  • Assist in the ongoing portfolio reporting and management to ensure that maximum value is being generated from the assets under management.
  • Conduct research on market developments in the UK power and flexibility sector, to inform bid strategies and deliver business-relevant quantitative insights
